We are currently recruiting for the role of Manager First Nations Development Programs this is an Indigenous Identified role and is only open to applicants who identify as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander.

About the Role

The Manager First Nations Development Programs role is dedicated to fostering the long-term resilience and sustainability of the First Nations arts and cultural sector. The role involves designing and managing innovative development programs that address key priorities in First Nations workforce development, capacity building, mentoring, and training.

Your duties will include:

  • Design and manage programs in response to identified priorities around First Nations workforce development, capacity building, mentoring and training opportunities
  • Scope, develop and deliver dedicated First Nations leadership development programs and alumni activity
  • In collaboration with Industry Initiatives, drive the continuous development and ongoing delivery of a dedicated First Nations digital program to heighten digital literacy, skills, digital ICIP and entrepreneurialism
  • Provide high level advice to internal stakeholders regarding First Nations workforce and professional development
  • Lead internal presentations to embed the understanding and reference of First Nations protocols
  • Manage supplier and partner contracts; manage and report on program budgets for allocated projects; and produce regular project documents including schedules, plans, and status reporting
  • Collaborate with the Evaluation and Impact Measurement team to measure and report on the outcomes of projects, with a focus on self-determination, accessibility and impact

About you

The ideal candidate for this role is a passionate advocate for First Nations arts and culture, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the sector.

To be successfully considered for this role, you will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of First Nations culture and creativity, with proven ability to establish credibility with stakeholders by understanding and applying Indigenous protocols
  • Proven experience in program design and management including leadership development, international engagement and/or digital capabilities
  • Highly developed project management skills, demonstrating progressive seniority, including preparation of project plans, reporting against key milestones and evaluation processes
  • Established professional networks within the First Nations cultural and creative industries
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate with a range of stakeholders and influence strategic outcomes which align to organisational goals
  • Willingness and ability to work outside of ordinary hours and travel nationally to meet with key external stakeholders, including remote locations
  • Current driver’s license

Desired:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/ or equivalent experience with Project management and/or Certificate IV Training and Assessment
