StaffBuffalo is partnering with a well-established environmental services and logistics company to hire an IT Desktop Technician on a minimum 6-month contract with the potential for permanent hire! This full-time, on-site role offers $25–$30/hour and is perfect for someone eager to roll up their sleeves, support major IT projects, and grow within a supportive, team-oriented environment.

As the IT Desktop Technician, you’ll play a critical role in helping the company transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11. You’ll unpack equipment, handle imaging and configuration, set up user profiles and printers, and assist with system swaps and troubleshooting; then with the potential to transition to Help Desk Support. Whether you're fresh out of school or have a few years of IT experience, this is an incredible opportunity to gain real-world experience while learning on the job.

This is a full-time, on-site role in the Niagara County area.

Responsibilities:

• Unpack, configure, and deploy new Windows 11 to all machines.
• Create and use Imaging and tools.
• Set up user profiles, connect devices to printers, and swap out old hardware.
• Support the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and basic software guidance to end-users.
• Log and track IT support tickets through a helpdesk system.
• Learn company systems and procedures using a structured training checklist.
• Collaborate with other IT team members through roll out of new software as well as work together during troubleshooting time period and supporting Help Desk functions.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while providing exceptional customer service skills.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in information technology, or work in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• 1+ years of hands-on IT support experience, preferably with both Windows/Mac environment.
• Experience with imaging and cloning tools is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with IT ticketing systems and basic troubleshooting in a professional setting.
• Familiarity with Windows 10 and 11, including user profile setup and printer configuration.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills — must be reliable, personable, and able to support users with varying technical experience.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new systems, follow structured processes, and adapt in a fast-paced work environment.
• Prior experience supporting internal IT projects or desktop rollouts is a plus.
• Majority of work will be out of the main HQ office in-person, with occasional travel to other facilities (Niagara & Erie Counties).
