Position Overview


This is a senior level position performing system operation and outage coordination duties for the Transmission System Operation Department of the Grand River Dam Authority as required by SPP, NERC and FERC requirements to maintain the reliability of the Bulk Electric System. Reports to the Manager of System Operations or his/her designated Supervisor.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
Department lead on large projects which includes the following duties: attending meetings where planned construction or maintenance projects are discussed to cover the operational point of view, coordinating clearances in order to maintain a safe, de-energized work environment for the crews, and ensure all switching orders are written and in an approved state.
Receive all switching requests, meeting with construction crews or engineers to discover what clearance points are necessary and to ensure load remains energized. 
Coordinate outages to ensure the requested outage does not interfere with any existing or planned outages. 
Write or assign switching orders in iTOA.
Coordinate switching order execution and facility updates in the field with the Operating Records and SCADA departments to ensure SCADA stays current with system configuration.
Field check jobs as needed to ensure department knowledge is in alignment with progress in field. 
iTOA administrator responsibility to maintain equipment database, customize user features, and work directly with Sun-Net on application upgrades and customization requests.
Work with SCADA support staff to develop and modify SCADA functionality, modules and displays. 
Cover shifts on Transmission desk when needed for operator absences or outage/storm restoration.
Collaborates with customers, internal or external individuals or groups, in assigned area of responsibility to ensure compliance, effectiveness and achievement of established goals.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:
The knowledge of basic electrical generation, transmission and distribution practices, principles and theory, as well as fundamental energy marketing accounting practices.
The ability to operate SCADA computer equipment related to the operation of a NERC-Certified Energy Control Center.
Functional competency with personal computers; prefer experience with Excel and Word and must possess and demonstrate excellent writing, composition, and communication skills.
The ability to work in a high stress environment and exercise good judgement under extreme time constraints while meeting GRDA and NERC standards.
Team player: ability to work well with others and recognize his/her decisions may impact others.


Education, Training, Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an electrical field from an accredited college or university and/or equivalent electrical industry experience.
Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:
Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
Current NERC certification as a System Operator.
Other information:
Position is located at the Kerr Energy Control Center (ECC) near Locust Grove, OK and the Engineering & Technology Center (ETC) Backup Control Center in Tulsa, OK
