Job Summary

Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support modifications and upgrades for existing hydroelectric generating plants. The role involves developing complex engineering deliverables, performing advanced engineering analyses and calculations, coordinating project activities, and providing technical guidance to project teams. The ideal candidate has strong power generation experience and the ability to independently manage technical, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.


Job Description

  • Develop and modify technical deliverables associated with modifications and upgrades on existing hydroelectric generating plants
  • With minimal supervision, apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses
  • Continue building on knowledge to develop concepts and approach more complex engineering problems
  • Continue developing knowledge and may provide guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and company policies
  • Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines
  • Independently apply knowledge and comply with the company quality program relative to assigned tasks
  • Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects
  • Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
  • Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles
  • Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Independently apply advanced engineering techniques and analysis to problems and methods
  • Actively delegate appropriate tasks to lower-level team members to develop depth of project execution staff
  • Review lower-level engineering work or assignments
  • Be responsible for one or more of the following: leading production teams, coordinating multiple discipline activity, and serving as the responsible charge for a project
  • Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects
  • Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on low- to moderately complex projects
  • May design a complete project of moderately complex scope or support multiple projects on complex technical challenges

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in hydroelectric or fossil power generation plant design
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70
  • Familiarity with California Electrical Code
  • Experience with power system analysis software such as SKM or ETAP is a plus
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam
  • Ability to apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses
  • Strong project coordination and technical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and review the work of lower-level engineers
  • Ability to coordinate with internal and external project team members
  • Ability to lead production teams and/or coordinate multiple disciplines as needed
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized accredited program

 

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience
  • PE License preferred
