Full Time Mastercam Programmer

Title: CNC MasterCam Programmer
Employment type:  Contract
Length of Contract:  6+ months (likely extension)

Objective:
To develop programming for parts, fixtures, and tooling used in manufacturing.

Summary of Responsibilities:
The duties outlined below represent the primary functions of this role but should not be interpreted as a complete list of all job requirements. Not all employees within this classification will necessarily perform every task listed.

  1. Create 2D and 3D part programs using MasterCam.

  2. Design holding fixtures for machining parts on CNC equipment.

  3. Program CNC tools or select and install appropriate tooling as needed.

  4. Complete process documentation for tapes, prints, and customer requirements.

  5. Maintain basic knowledge of CATIA (recommended but not mandatory).

  6. Using blueprints or 3D models, reproduce detailed parts in MasterCam to generate tool paths for manufacturing.

  7. Digitize Mylar using AutoCAD.

  8. Calculate machining feeds and speeds.

  9. Use trigonometry to calculate angles for machining tapers.

  10. Perform additional related duties as required.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to design test setups and analyze test results.

  • Understanding of metalworking properties and machining principles.

  • Capable of compiling test data and documenting findings.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex drawings and specifications.

Education & Experience:

  • Completion of a four-year high school education.

  • Approximately two years of on-the-job training in a related or similar field.

  • Machinist training or apprenticeship is considered an asset.
