Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on and results-driven Engineering Manufacturing Manager with deep expertise in New Product Introduction (NPI) and aerospace manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for leading technical manufacturing processes and ensuring supplier compliance with engineering, quality, and delivery requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in the ramp-up and industrialization of complex aerospace systems.

Candidates should bring experience managing engineering or manufacturing operations within an NPI environment, strong knowledge of aerospace supplier dynamics, and preferably direct exposure to OEM-level production environments.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Oversight & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the technical authority for manufacturing quality and supplier production readiness.
  • Conduct assessments of supplier capabilities, including equipment, process controls, personnel qualifications, and facilities.
  • Ensure supplier adherence to engineering specifications, drawings, and aerospace industry standards.
  • Lead supplier industrialization efforts during NPI, including ramp-up planning, First Article Inspections (FAI), and engineering change management.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineering to support manufacturability, tooling readiness, and smooth transitions from development to production.
  • Monitor and drive performance on critical path supplier activities, including prototypes, LRIP, and full-rate production.
  • Define, track, and analyze supplier performance metrics (KPIs) such as OTD, quality yield, NCRs, and responsiveness.
  • Lead structured problem-solving activities, including RCCA, FMEA, and process audits.
  • Champion Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency, quality, and cost at supplier sites.

Cross-Functional Program Support

  • Collaborate with procurement, quality, engineering, and program management to align supplier activities with program milestones (PDR, CDR, FAI, etc.).
  • Act as the primary technical interface between internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Support strategic make/buy decisions and contribute to supplier selection and risk assessments.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, operations, or supplier development.
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting NPI for complex mechanical, structural, or aerospace systems.
  • Proven success in elevating supplier performance in high-risk or constrained environments.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to influence and challenge suppliers effectively.

Industry Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, special processes, and systems integration.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.
  • Experience managing transitions from low-rate to full-rate production.

Tools & Methodologies:

  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred), PLM systems, and CAD tools.
  • Skilled in quality tools such as RCCA, FMEA, APQP/PPAP, SPC.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred (Green or Black Belt).

Other Requirements:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and supplier negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for supplier assessments and development activities.
