Job Title: Avionics Systems Engineer (P3–P4 Level)

Contract Duration: 12 months Location: Montreal or Toronto (Hybrid – 2 days/week on-site required) Language: English or French Education: Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Software, or Aerospace Engineering Experience: 5–10 years (P3 level; P4 considered for exceptional candidates)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Systems Engineer / Engineering Professional to support the development, integration, testing, certification, and in‑service support of avionics systems for state‑of‑the‑art business aircraft. This role involves close collaboration with suppliers, internal engineering teams, and certification authorities to ensure successful system integration and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Engineering & Integration

  • Define and manage system and subsystem requirements to meet safety, certification, and aircraft design objectives.

  • Collaborate with avionics system suppliers and interfacing disciplines to ensure seamless aircraft integration.

  • Oversee the integration of avionics systems such as:

    • AFCS

    • Communications: VHF, HF, SATCOM, Datalink

    • Navigation: ADF, VOR, ILS, DME, TCAS, Transponder, IRS, GPS, FMS, Weather Radar

    • Displays: EFIS, EICAS, HUD, SVS

    • Information/Maintenance & Recording: IMS, OMS, Data Load, CVR, FDR, AHMS

    • Cabin Connectivity Systems

Testing & Certification

  • Write, conduct, or witness development and certification tests on aircraft and/or test rigs.

  • Review, analyze, and approve test results.

  • Support ARP4754 system and aircraft-level verification and validation activities.

  • Liaise with certification authorities and support delegated personnel to achieve system certification.

Supplier & Program Support

  • Manage, review, and approve deliverables from avionics system suppliers.

  • Support Final Assembly Line (FAL) and in‑service aircraft for design‑related issues and drive them to resolution.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of engineering tools, processes, and methodologies.

Software & Customization Support

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of software for:

    • Crew alerting logic customization

    • Synoptics page development

    • I/O configuration in an Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) environment

    • Automation of aircraft‑level functions

Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Software, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).

  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in avionics systems engineering.

  • Strong knowledge of avionics systems and their integration within aircraft platforms.

  • Experience with specification, design, integration, testing, and certification of avionics systems.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, planning, and prioritization abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Willingness to travel as required.

Assets

  • Experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems.

  • Familiarity with industry standards such as DO‑178, DO‑160, DO‑254, and ARP4754.

  • Experience supporting aircraft production and in‑service operations.

Work Environment

This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring two days per week on‑site at either the Montreal or Toronto facility. The remaining days may be worked remotely, depending on project needs.
