Strategic Sourcing Manager – Avionics
Contract Position( Hybrid/ Remote)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead sourcing and supplier management activities for the Avionics Commodity within our client a aircraft manufacturing OEM. This critical role will focus on developing and executing sourcing strategies, negotiating supplier agreements, and ensuring a reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality supply base for avionics systems and components.
The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the aerospace and defense sector, with a strong background in avionics procurement, supplier negotiations, and strategic commodity management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for the Avionics Commodity, aligned with company objectives in cost, quality, delivery, and innovation.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to enhance competitiveness and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract development, and long-term agreement execution with domestic and international avionics suppliers.
- Drive continuous cost reductions through value engineering, competitive bidding, should-cost analysis, and alternate sourcing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, program management, and legal to support NPI, change management, and supplier qualification.
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct supplier business reviews, and manage escalation and corrective actions as needed.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and geopolitical risks affecting the avionics supply base.
- Support risk mitigation, make/buy analysis, and dual-sourcing initiatives for critical components.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer requirements, including ITAR, DFARS, and AS9100 standards.
- Report sourcing metrics and present strategic plans to executive leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing or supply chain management within the aerospace industry, specifically with avionics and avionic components.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing complex supplier relationships and contracts.
- Deep understanding of avionics systems, components, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance including ITAR,CGP, FAR/DFARS, and AS9100.
- Experience with ERP and sourcing tools.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical understanding of avionics subsystems and components (e.g., navigation, communication, flight control).
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
