Data Engineer Job Summary
The Data Engineer will be primarily responsible for implementing and testing data pipelines for company use and needs along with supporting production data availability and backup solutions. Other duties include researching and providing recommendations for technology and methodology improvements for data activities. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical, communication (written and oral) and logical skills while maintaining high performance in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Implement and test data pipelines for company use and needs .
· Research and provide recommendations for technology and methodology enhancements for data activities.
· Support production data availability and any applicable backup solutions.
· Provide leadership, coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
· Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer highly complex issues to higher level staff.
· Support end to end data processing from ingestion to reporting with considerations for optimization, reliability, security, data accuracy and privacy.
· Support higher level staff on relationships with data and third-party vendors related to data pipelines.
· Support usage of cost/technologies regarding resource management.
· Additional duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field required.
· 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related role
· Experience with the SQL Server stack (SSMS, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), DAX, and Python
· Experience with ETL tools and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
· Experience with data warehousing concepts and implementation
· Experience with machine learning, AI, and training in data models
· Knowledge of data security and privacy laws, regulations, and policies (including PII)
· Strong analytical and advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also operating independently and taking ownership of results
Physical Environment:
The work may be done in a sitting position with no excessive lifting, pulling, or pushing, and limited twisting, bending, and stooping. While performing the duties of this job, there is required use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms.
