We believe in integrity, accountability, collaboration, quality, and passion, and we are seeking a like-minded Billing, Coding, and Compliance Expert to join our consulting team.

 

This position requires a hard-working, self-motivated, accountable individual who is willing to work from home and/or in-office at one of our primary office locations (Phoenix, AZ or Reno, NV). We will consider part-time or full-time candidates.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 and Ophthalmology / Optometry-related codes and related CMS guidelines.
  • JCAHPO certification (COA, COT, COMT) and/or CPC, CPMA, OCS and/or COPC desired. Must be willing to achieve coding certification/s. COE highly beneficial.
  • A thorough understanding and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Familiarity with legal, regulatory, policy, and documentation compliance issues related to medical coding and billing procedures. Specific expertise in ophthalmology highly desirable.

 

KEY SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Commitment to remaining current and informed on developing issues and trends in medical coding procedures requirements.
  • Willingness to work with established consulting team members to achieve consensus on key billing and coding issues.
  • Strong organization, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills necessary to be able to keep pace with fast-moving client projects.
  • Tech and Internet savvy, with solid Excel skills. Word and PowerPoint skills are a plus.
  • A flexible, collaborative approach to managing variable daily tasks and customer types, both internal and external.
  • A dedication to high-quality, detail-oriented work.
  • The ability to self-motivate and a desire to learn and grow.

 

This role will require a significant amount of travel to client offices for onsite audits and training sessions.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct remote and on-site chart audits.
  • Prepare clear reports (using company templates), based on well-accepted billing and coding principles, and provide recommendations for clients to implement improvements and best practices.
  • Prepare and deliver billing and coding training sessions, virtually and in-person, as well as represent BSM at industry meetings.
  • Write / contribute to regular billing and coding articles and webinars.

 

Given the nature of the duties, passing a criminal/credit background check will be a requirement for the selected candidate.
