Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated F.A.T. Technician to join our team. In this role, you will perform factory authorized testing (FAT) and verification testing for the completion of OSS Umbilicals & Products. Your expertise in ensuring the integrity and safety of our product delivery to the client will play a critical role in our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a passion for quality, and a commitment to safety and precision.
Job Description
- Perform Fiber Optic Testing & Splicing (Outside Plant Certified).
- Conduct Low Voltage (1000V) Cable Testing and Medium Voltage (6000V+) Cable Testing, including tests for Conductor Resistance, Insulation Resistance, Crosstalk/Attenuation, Impedance, Resistance, and High Potential Testing.
- Measure resistance, continuity, and voltage using specialized test equipment.
- Perform and assist in Hydrostatic Pressure Testing of SDSS Umbilicals & DE Products (10,000-30,000 psi).
- Set up and operate specialized equipment, perform leak checks using appropriate procedures, and verify completion.
- Operate and maintain High Pressure Water Jet & Hydratron Pumps.
- Accurately record and document test data using proper digital methods and equipment (e.g., CompactRIO, NI Equipment, Pressure Transducers).
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with products and test equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of pumps, manifolds, fittings, and pressure ratings.
- Read and interpret electrical, fiber optic, and hydraulic schematics.
- Analyze test data (plots, graphs, tabulated parameters) to determine pass/fail conditions and identify when further analysis is required.
- Identify and document Non-Conformance Records (NCRs) and support improvement initiatives.
- Report tool status and ensure adherence to safety protocols, including Lockout Tagout (LOTO).
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety guidelines and using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Provide clear communication to stakeholders regarding production status, completed tasks, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work area to meet the required standards for assembly operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
- Previous relevant experience in a similar role preferred.
- Knowledge of low voltage (up to 1000V) and medium voltage (6000V+) cable testing, including tests for conductor resistance, insulation resistance, crosstalk/attenuation, impedance, and high potential testing.
- Ability to perform hydrostatic pressure testing for Umbilicals and DE products (10,000–30,000 psi), including equipment setup and leak checks.
- Experience with digital test equipment such as CompactRIO, NI Equipment, and Pressure Transducers for pressure and electrical testing.
- Understanding of pumps, manifolds, and their operation in high-pressure testing environments.
- Strong diagnostic skills to troubleshoot both product and test equipment failures, ensuring accurate identification and resolution of issues.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, fiber optic, and hydraulic schematics for troubleshooting and system understanding.
- Proficiency in interpreting test data (graphs, plots, tabulated parameters) and using it to determine pass/fail conditions.
- Ability to identify, document, and escalate Non-Conformance Records (NCRs) and contribute to process improvements.
- Experience in setting up, operating, and maintaining high-pressure water jet systems and Hydratron pumps.
- Proficiency in fiber optic cable testing and splicing, with Outside Plant certification.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Highschool diploma or equivalent required
Additional Requirements
- 4x10 work schedule, but may change depending on project requirements.
- Schedules are subject to change based on project needs and may not follow a fixed pattern.
- Must be local to the Mobile area.
Pay Rate/Salary
- $27.00 per hour and higher depending on experience
