Job Summary

Plans, directs, organizes and controls overall movement of materials in and out of division manufacturing plant(s) to global locations. Responsible for multi-departments within the manufacturing support arena to ensure division requirements for materials are met. Lead continuous improvement for procurement, materials management, and inventory control. Work with departments on projects, strategic initiatives, resource planning and business plans. Establish yearly goals and objectives for the department and personnel staff. Could be responsible for global procurement activities, inventory management and distribution. Handles special projects, as assigned.

 

Job Description

  • Ensuring the personal safety and safe working environment of staff
  • Work with QA on Product nonconformances and returns (ensure restitution)
  • Develop vendor OTD metrics and communicate results
  • Works with Sales Team on planning and management of forecast model
  • Working closely with suppliers to improve operations and reduce cost
  • Communicating needs & objectives to managers & key personnel in procurement, & distribution
  • Negotiating contracts to reduce costs and achieve maximum efficiency
  • Have Suppliers own the inventory
  • Providing accurate routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated
  • Accurately calculating total supply chain costs in relation to proposed new projects
  • Raw material procurement, carrying costs, ROI
  • Outsourcing initiative (make versus castings) low-cost Suppliers
  • Ensure our risks are minimized on inventory being held by Suppliers
  • Ensures safe transport of any equipment ordered for overseas Suppliers
  • Responsible for placing Purchase Orders and ensures that team maintains proper documentation and follows DOA
  • Will work with leadership to develop policies and procedures in the areas of procurement for entire facility

Skills Required

  • 10+ years of experience in materials
  • 4+ years of management experience. Planning, Procurement, and Inventory management experience
  • ERP software system experience required
  • Experience with international procurement
  • Demonstrated maturity in ability to follow and apply company policies to situations as appropriate
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage several critical tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Demonstrates group presentation skills;
  • Written Communication – Writes clearly and informatively
  • Support organization’s goals and values
  • Planning/Organizing – Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources; Sets goals and objectives
  • Able to balance team and individual responsibilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good computer, communication, decision-making, and management skills

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience.
