Our client is a steel distributor and service center with a local presence and global reach catering to companies across the clients in the oil and gas, construction, mining, and machinery industries. Their Houston facility has been in operation for over 20 years.
Job Summary
The CNC Operator - Oxy / Plasma Burner will be responsible for operating machinery to produce high-quality parts and materials. This role requires a high level of precision and attention to detail, as well as compliance with safety guidelines. The operator will work primarily on the night shift and is expected to perform various tasks including programming machines, preparing raw materials, and inspecting finished products.
Job Description
- Operate the Kinetic 5000/2500 CNC machinery
- Prepare and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling, oxy, plasma, etc.
- Understand the specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
- Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
- Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate many parts
- Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality

Skills Required
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Proven experience as an Oxy/Plasma CNC Operator in a steel or metals company
- Must operate CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
- Computer savvy with a basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
- Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
- A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach
- Good communication abilities
Education/Training/Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline is a plus
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work the second shift
- Shift Hours: 4:00 pm – 12:30 am
Pay Rate/Salary
- $22.00 - $28.00/hr. based on experience
