Engineering Lead - Site Reliability

We're looking for an experienced Lead SRE, to report directly to the Head of Site Reliability in a major financial services organisation who are currently undertaking a significant core platform build programme – the first of it’s kind in this market. 

Responsibilities will be:

• Work with peers and teams round supporting production transition of a large number of key new assets representing future Cloud native banking stack
• Work within the team to help educate / represent the evolution of operational practice in SRE direction.
• Help drive outcomes / approach for Tactical / right-sizing CMDB/ITSM tooling approach
• Support Lightweight Release initiative and work with change functions to further improve change process / defining and help teams meet the high (primarily automated) bar in order to support same day release with low overhead.
• Support/consult on technical work required if integrations required to ITSM/ServiceNow etc.
• Work with key Principal Engineers / Leads round supporting and promoting SRE best practice

Key Skills & Attributes:

• Extensive experience in CI/CD practices, delivering via declarative deployment practices with automated quality and security built in - we ship our infrastructure the same way we ship our apps.
• Extensive experience in software and operational engineering, driving good practice - we build run time and build time components to support, shape and secure the platform.
• Experience with unit and component/integration testing as part of day to day development, ideally utilizing TDD techniques. Performance testing experience is a bonus.
• Experience working with peers in governance functions (security, risk and change) and adapting standards and policies to enable modern software engineering and SRE practices.
