SUMMARY:  The purpose of this position is to maintain a safe, clean and efficient operation of the Mill in all areas of production. To understand the mill and cleaning house flows and know how to adjust machinery for maximum performance. Perform all job requirements keeping food safety as your highest priority.

 

PRIMARY WORK SHIFT: Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Shift could vary depending on workload/needs

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following - Other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Assist millers in daily operations by sampling, testing, and making minor mill changes.
  • Make repairs to equipment as needed in a timely manner to keep mills operation efficiently.
  • Make effective rounds in the mill and cleaning house every ½ hour
  • Become proficient at both cleaning house operator and mill operator jobs
  • Assist millers with grade changes, remove germ totes, sew, label and blow off tote
  • Become proficient in all aspects of routine machine maintenance, including roll changing, sifter repair and flow, LKLA duster maintenance, purifier maintenance, filter bag/cartridge replacement
  • Monitors testing results and make any needed corrections to maintain spec
  •  Absorbs Utility Operators duties in their absence

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with training personnel as needed

Fill in as facility supervisor in absence of Plant Manager and Department Heads

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in flour milling, food processing or other related manufacturing field is preferred
  • Basic computer skills, Microsoft office skills

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans. Ability to write reports, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize hazards and improvement areas.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to conditions that are typical to a fast- paced manufacturing environment, including: moving equipment and machinery, dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions and employee must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, in precarious places; in the presence of airborne particles, and with the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment usually requires the use of hearing protection.
