Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Member Service Representative (MSR) with a strong background in credit union or banking environments. This individual will act as a primary liaison between members and the financial institution, assisting with account inquiries, opening new accounts, and supporting members’ daily banking needs. The role requires exceptional service skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining strict confidentiality of member information.

 

Job Description

  • Greet members and visitors professionally, ensuring prompt, accurate, and efficient service
  • Respond to member inquiries via phone, email, walk-ins, call center tickets, and internal systems
  • Assist members with plastic card issues, including mailing replacement cards when needed
  • Open new accounts and maintain existing accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedures
  • Provide members with required information regarding their accounts and membership
  • Recommend and promote credit union products and services based on member needs
  • Perform authorized account maintenance with appropriate documentation
  • Serve as a Backup Teller when needed, including: Receiving deposits and payments, Verifying checks, endorsements, and signatures, Processing withdrawals, Placing holds on uncollected funds,
  • Issuing receipts and recording transactions
  • Answer phone calls, provide information, and assist members as requested
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of all member information
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum 2 years of recent MSR or customer/member service experience in a credit union or bank
  • Previous cash handling experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills
  • Credit check clearance with no bankruptcy or collections
  • Fiserv/DNA system experience (preferred)
  • Ability to perform duties independently or with limited supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional and calm demeanor when interacting with diverse individuals
  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information

 

Education

  • High school diploma or GED;

 

Pay Rate

  • $21 per hour and higher depending on experience and qualifications
