Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Warehouse Worker in Equipment room. You will deliver supplies, Dietary Tube Feedings, patient care equipment, and Code Blue Carts from Materiel Distribution’s storeroom, and Equipment Storage Room to patient care areas upon request, in a manner that supports unsurpassed excellence and quality patient care. Manages the ordering and removal of specialty beds for patients.

 

Job Description

  • Clean, disinfect, and inspect reusable hospital equipment according to infection-prevention standards.
  • Ensure all equipment is functional, properly stored, and ready for clinical use.
  • Track equipment inventory levels and report shortages or damaged items.
  • Assist in the exchange, replacement, or retrieval of equipment from patient care units.
  • Deliver supplies and equipment to assigned departments based on daily requests or scheduled rounds.
  • Restock equipment rooms, carts, and storage areas to support efficient workflow.
  • Assist clinical staff by locating and providing equipment needed for patient care. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe equipment room.
  • Ensure equipment is separated, labeled, and staged properly for distribution.
  • Follow hospital policies for handling, storage, and cleaning procedures. Respond promptly to calls or requests from nursing units and other clinical teams.
  • Communication equipment availability, issues, or delays to leadership as needed. Provide exceptional customer service and support to all hospital departments.
  • Delivers supplies and patient care equipment to patient care areas per stat beeper request from Hospital’s storeroom, and from VNA Closet, within twenty minutes of request. Obtains signed requisition from nursing unit when delivering stat beeper supplies.
  • Orders specialty beds from outside vendors, via phone call, for patients at Hospitals.
  • Obtains confirmation of delivery and follows up to ensure bed was received on the nursing unit within the specified time frame.
  • Notifies specialty bed vendor when bed used by patient is no longer needed.
  • Obtains confirmation of pick up and follows up to ensure bed was removed.
  • Cleans, Restocks, and Delivers Code Blue Carts per Code Blue Specifications, in a timely manner. Cleans patient care equipment, per Isolation and Department standards.
  • Delivers stat and non-stat supplies from Hospital’s storeroom to patient care areas by faxed requisition or phone call every hour.
  • Retrieves Broken Equipment from all nursing units and delivers to Clinical Engineering daily. Returns fixed Patient Care Equipment from Clinical Engineering to the nursing units, daily.
  • Trouble shoots all broken patient care equipment, per Clinical Engineering Standards, before delivering to Clinical Engineering.
  • Returns equipment that is not broken to the unit or to the Delta Equipment Storage area.
  • Restocks equipment room with supplies accurately in appropriate bin locations, when necessary.
  • Handles supplies and equipment to ensure sterility and infection control when applicable, i.e. (sterile strays, supplies with expiration dates, and replenishment of isolation supply carts.)
  • Takes initiative to assist patient care staff with identification of supply needs and available alternatives when requested.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly equipment storage room.
  • Demonstrates compliance with Hospital and departmental policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, infection control, attendance and dress code. Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Skills Required

  • Two (2) years of hospital experience or commiserate experience in material handling, equipment or tram operation, one (1) of which must have involved working with patient care supplies and equipment.
  • One (1) year experience working with patient care supplies and equipment is preferred or in a similar customer-oriented field. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted.
  • This position will require bending, standing, and walking.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the use/purpose of supplies and patient care equipment. Knowledge of Code Blue protocol and cleaning and restocking standards.
  • Knowledge of basic trouble shooting techniques, per Clinical Engineering standards, for inspecting broken Patient Care Equipment.
  • Fundamental knowledge of cleaning and decontamination procedures Knowledge of hospital emergency codes and blood borne pathogens
  • Skill in oral communication is essential in dealing with a variety of employees and supervisors in the department and at the end-user level.
  • Ability to learn to operate various equipment safely and effectively, within operation standards. (i.e., manual pallet jacks, electronic pallet jack, tow motor, carts, trams, computers, etc.).
  • Ability to write legibly in completing inventory documents, requisitions and tram logs.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent walking. lifting and placing stock on shelves or in their designated locations within the warehouse. Frequent lifting of filled supply orders and delivery to requisitioned areas. Frequent pushing of carts from storeroom to patient care areas. Must be able to push supply carts on wheels, weighing up to 500 lbs. into nursing units.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

 

Additional Requirements

  • Shift time:  Start time - 3pm (Part time position, 6 hrs shift, uo to 36 hours weekly, some weekends required)

 

Pay Rate

  • $18.00 per hour
