Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Sr. Cost Analyst to report to the VP of Finance and lead key cost accounting initiatives. This role is responsible for conducting complex cost analyses and audits for Tuboscope, primarily supporting the Corrosion Control Plants. The position will also lead the implementation of the Cost Configurator module within the ERP system to enhance cost transparency and improve margin visibility across the organization.

 

Job Description

  • Partner with Plant leadership to assist in financial analysis and decision-making in support of the financial health of the facility
  • Implementation and ongoing maintenance/support of the Cost Configurator module in JDE for Tuboscope facilities
  • Assists in developing, implementing, managing, and continually measuring processes, ensuring the accuracy of job posting standards, including annual and ad-hoc roll exercises as required
  • Ensure the integrity of Work Order processing from material issues, labor postings, and associated variances
  • Provide insight and guidance on the profitability of various functions and products within the Plant to partner with Management and improve results
  • Review and monitor WIP and outside process clearing account and adjust as necessary
  • Annual Budget rolling Forecast to include Hours, Headcount, and Production expenses (Direct and Indirect)
  • Support production team with ad-hoc inquiries, requests and reporting
  • Work closely with Plant management to analyze daily, weekly, and monthyl work in process (WIP)
  • Reviews the accuracy of Plant processes, including Purchased parts cost verification, Router development, Overhead cost verification, and Labor rate verification
  • Produces and analyzes month-end reports, including variance reporting and plant Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) performance
  • Performs duties associated with SOX compliance, including WIP reconciliation, WIP subledger aging, Inventory reconciliation, and Manufacturing - Segregation of Duties
  • Prepare ad-hoc data analysis and reports for operations management as needed
  • All duties as assigned
  • Review balance sheet and P&L accounts, and provide detailed variance explanations and resolve potential errors

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 5 years cost accounting experience or equivalent preferred
  • Strong Excel Skills
  • Strong skills and knowledge of accounting theory and application of financial principles
  • Experience with Hyperion & SmartView is beneficial
  • Strong experience with JDE or similar accounting system as it related to job costing
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing process costing, identify variances, and drive adjustments to standards
  • Skilled in identifying trends and drawing conclusions from large amounts of data
  • Proactive operating style requiring a high energy level and tolerance to tight deadlines
  • Ability to build and manage a team

 

Top Required Skills:

  • Must have a solid background working in the manufacturing industry
  • Must have at least 5 years in cost accounting
  • Must have advanced Excel skills
  • Previous JDE, Hyperion, and SmartView experience is a huge plus, but not required if they are trainable
  • Must have experience leading a project from start to finish
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • High analytical and detail-oriented
  • Solid costing knowledge is highly prefered; however, they must have the ability to explain and persuade others to implement the new costing system
  • This role will not start with any direct reports; that may change in the future as they expand internationally

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Accounting/Finance preferred)


Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to pass drug screen & criminal background check
  • Domestic travel may be required to local manufacturing facilities. Travel expenses covered by the client
  • Work Hours
    • Day Shift, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. A hybrid schedule is available with 2 flex days working remotely (any day except Monday and Friday)

 

Pay Rate/Salary

  • $85K - $98K annually. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors
