Job Summary
The Manufacturing Technician will support the production of shaped charges in a fast-paced, semi-automated manufacturing environment. This role involves operating HMIs, installing mechanical tooling, packaging explosive charges, and performing technical duties in support of key cell and work group projects. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable with touchscreen systems, and able to work independently while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
Job Description
- Operate Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to run automated and semi-automated production bays.
- Install and adjust mechanical tooling using standard hand tools (e.g., Allen wrenches, torque wrenches).
- Handle, package, and process shaped charges (explosives) in accordance with safety protocols.
- Work with hydraulic presses, robots, and conveyors (operation only; not repair/maintenance).
- Utilize job packets, work orders, routings, quality travelers, wire lists, and bills of material.
- Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve product, process, or program defects.
- Maintain production tools, equipment, and cleanliness of the work area.
- Support functional work group projects, including testing and applying appropriate procedures.
- Ensure compliance with productivity, quality, and safety requirements in a hazardous materials environment.
- Shift time: 03:30 pm - Midnight M-F - with overtime and weekend hours as needed
Skills Required
- Comfort operating HMIs or touchscreen-based production systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand tools.
- Experience working in fast-paced, hands-on environments.
- Basic knowledge of electronics, hydraulics, and/or mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to work independently, proactively, and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production demands.
- Not suited for candidates preferring slow-paced, repetitive, or strictly task-based work.
- Must be eligible for BATFE Level 4 clearance (Employee Possessor of Explosives).
- Clearance is required due to the handling and packaging of explosive materials and is processed after onboarding.
- The process includes completion of ATF Form 5400.28, used to determine eligibility for explosives operations.
Education
- Highschool diploma or GED
Pay Rate
- $20 per hour and higher depending on experience
Additional Requirements
- Fast-paced, hands-on production environment involving powdered explosives (full PPE and training provided).
- Regular interaction with automated equipment, robotics, and hydraulic systems.
- Must be comfortable working around hazardous materials and following strict safety protocols.
