Job Summary
We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Sterile Processing Technician. You will be responsible for processing sterile instruments, performing terminal cleaning and decontamination of patient care equipment in accordance with regulatory standards, conducting diagnostic and biological testing of surgical sterilization equipment, and distributing supplies to hospital departments and nursing units as needed.
Job Description
- Prep & Pack: Re-assemble/wrap instrumentation trays for surgery/various departments per recommended practices. Process stock for surgery/CPD.
- Decontamination: Responsible for decontamination of patient care equipment/surgical instrumentation, equipment/various department instrumentation.
- Case carts: Assemble sterile instrumentation/supplies for surgical procedures per OR specifications. Rotation of instrumentation/supplies. Check stock.
- Sterilization: Responsible for practice of safe/efficient/effective sterilization (steam/Sterrad) procedures. OR/CPD biological testing.
- Coordinate on time preparation of equipment needed with next day scheduled procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor staff.
- Consistently demonstrates dedication to the company customer Service standards (100%).
Skills Required
- 6 months of relevant experience Preferred
- Physical Demands: Lift/carry up to 50 lbs (seldom, varying by height/weight), push/pull up to 25 lbs occasionally; sitting occasionally, standing/walking frequently; bending, trunk rotation, reaching, handling, forceful grip/pinch, finger/hand dexterity occasionally; squat, stairs, crawling/kneeling, driving seldom; visual acuity seldom.
Education/Training/Certifications
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) – through HSPA or
- CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) – through CBSPD
- Must obtain within 1 year of hire if not currently certified
Additional Requirements
- Schedule notes: 3p-11:30p; every other weekend
- Scrub Color: Hospital Provided
Pay Rate
- $24–$28 per hour, based on experience, skills, and market factors
