Job Summary
The Plant Operator is responsible for processing gas cylinder and hardgoods orders in preparation for shipment. This role supports daily operations by ensuring safety, product quality, and productivity standards are met. The position involves handling materials, preparing cylinders, maintaining organization on the production floor, and supporting shipping and inventory activities.
Job Description
- Pull, label, and pack gas cylinders according to order specifications
- Prepare and label regulators, cases, and other hardgoods
- Inspect cylinders, labels, and documentation for accuracy and quality
- Scrape labels, paint, and apply temperature coatings to cylinders
- Program cylinders with RFID and I-cards
- Load and unload trucks and transport materials within the facility using handjacks, forklifts, and carts
- Maintain a clean, organized production floor and properly store materials
- Perform inventory counts for cylinders and hardgoods
- Conduct visual inspections of high- and low-pressure cylinders and report concerns
- Perform basic maintenance on labeling, programming, and crimping equipment
- Support safety protocols and quality standards (including ISO programs)
- Assist with additional duties as assigned
- Shift: 8am - 4:30pm EST
Skills Required
- 1–3 years of relevant warehouse, production, or plant experience preferred
- Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures
- Basic math and computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar systems)
- Ability to read and interpret safety documents and operating instructions in English
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete reports accurately
- Experience with SAP (ERP systems) or ISO 9001 is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting
- Strong organizational and task management skills
- Ability to stand and remain on feet for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to lift and move up to 70 lbs
- Ability to safely handle gas cylinders and materials
- Comfortable working at heights up to 10 feet
- Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
Pay Rate
- $16 - $20 per hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
