Our client operates an oil refinery in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Company processes crude oil and produces fuels, heating oils, and petrochemicals.

 

Job Summary

Join us as a Chief Inspector, leading on-site inspection teams to ensure safe and efficient operations. With over a decade of experience in fixed equipment inspection, including a focus on crude refining, you'll oversee compliance with industry standards like API 510/570/653 and drive continuous improvement in mechanical integrity programs. Your strong technical background and coordination skills will be essential in managing contractors and driving incident investigations to maintain peak operating efficiency.

 

Job Description

  • Manage on-site inspection team and third-party sub-contractors to ensure all work is performed by qualified and certified personnel to achieve safe, reliable, and peak operating efficiency.
  • Allocate inspection resources to the daily tasks being performed and address any resource deficiencies.
  • Supports and drives Incident investigations to determine root causes for fixed equipment failures.
  • Responsible for managing the mechanical integrity program in accordance with OSHA, PSM, and recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive written Inspection department procedures.
  • Closely monitor unit parameters for corrosion control
  • Closely collaborate with chemical vendor to aid in corrosion prevention and unit efficiency.
  • Perform API 510/570/653 inspections during routine operations and planned outages.
  • Develop and maintain forever evolving inspection plans to ensure all equipment piping, and PSV’s are inspected and in compliance with PSM and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure appropriate inspection and testing methods are adequate to detect potential damage mechanisms on fixed equipment throughout the refinery.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings for capitol and routine projects.
  • Verifies new fixed equipment is designed and fabricated in accordance with appropriate construction codes.
  • Verifies new and existing fixed equipment is safe for its intended service. 
  • Write detailed reports of equipment and ensure documentation has been E-filed.
  • Enter reports into inspection management software with appropriate frequencies.
  • Write repair recommendations in Maximo software.
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel with repairs, alterations, and rerating of equipment. 
  • Participate in companies PHA’s, HAZOPs, and RCA’s for inspection related expertise

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum of ten (10) years coordinating / inspecting fixed equipment.
  • 5+ years’ experience with preference of crude refining.
  • Strong fixed equipment background and technical expertise.
  • Experience coordinating multiple contractors and inspectors across disciplines.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Certifications of API 510, 570, and 653. Understanding of API and ASME codes. 
  • High school diploma (minimum) or GED, secondary or associate degree from a recognized training facility preferred.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Job will require some level of physical activities as well as emergency response responsibilities.
  • The incumbent is expected to perform duties that involve standing, walking, climbing, running, sitting, kneeling twisting, bending, pulling, pushing carrying, lifting, and driving.
  • The incumbent must be able to lift up to 50lbs. 
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment as needed to perform the job.
