Job Summary
The Mill Operator is responsible for operating crushing, grinding, conveying, packaging, testing, and shipping equipment to efficiently transform crude materials such as barite and bentonite into high-quality finished products. This role supports mineral processing operations by monitoring equipment, performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring production goals are met safely and efficiently. The Mill Operator works in a plant or mill environment and must strictly follow safety, environmental, and operational guidelines.
Job Description
- Operate mill and plant equipment including crushing, grinding, conveying, packaging, and shipping systems in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner.
- Monitor production processes to ensure consistent material flow and product quality.
- Perform routine testing to verify product specifications.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to keep equipment in optimal operating condition.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment malfunctions or process deviations to plant management.
- Support basic repairs and adjustments to maintain smooth operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and environmentally compliant work area.
- Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, and immediately report safety hazards.
- Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and management to ensure efficient workflow and safe operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity, safety, and equipment reliability.
Skills Required
- Experience in a plant, mill, mining, or industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to operate mobile and stationary equipment safely.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures.
- Ability to work in a mill or plant environment with exposure to noise, dust, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull materials as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, or climb for extended periods.
Education
- Highschool diploma or GED
Pay Rate
- $20 per hour and higher depending on experience
