Job Summary
The Logistics Technician will support warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations in a high-performance logistics environment. This role is responsible for maintaining safety, accuracy, timeliness, and productivity across daily operations. Duties include receiving shipments, conducting ERP transactions, preparing cylinders for shipment, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean, secure warehouse. This position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Job Description
- Identify, report, and avoid unsafe conditions; strictly follow all safety policies including HAZWOPER, LOTO, and communications protocols.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Perform all assigned logistics tasks safely and efficiently to meet daily productivity goals.
- Follow all work instructions, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare cylinders for shipment, including: Removing old labels, Cleaning/painting, Inspecting and checking, Wrapping and labeling valves, Applying required information per DOT regulations,
- Barcode scanning, Palletizing and staging for shipment
- Perform ERP transactions (SAP HANA or similar systems) for shipping, receiving, and inventory.
- Ensure accuracy of all ERP entries for operational efficiency.
- Prepare shipping paperwork in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Coordinate deliveries and pickups with carriers and internal locations.
- Ship, receive, and deliver supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Operate forklifts to load/unload trucks and move materials.
- Load and unload sea containers, applying proper blocking/bracing per IMO, IMDG, and customs requirements.
- Maintain inventory control records and conduct cycle counts.
- Collaborate with internal teams to locate cylinders or canisters.
- Verify the accuracy and quality of incoming shipments.
- Maintain and inspect material-handling equipment.
- Escalate safety or quality concerns promptly.
- Keep work areas clean, orderly, and secure; support warehouse security measures.
- Comply with OSHA standards, MSDS requirements, and all safety and training programs.
- Roll cylinders (up to ~200 lbs) by tilting and guiding them forward safely.
- Demonstrate fitness for duty, including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders.
Skills Required
- Ability to roll cylinders weighing up to 200 lbs following proper technique.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and sustain physical activity in a fast-paced warehouse.
- Certified forklift operator.
- Strong customer service mindset.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand hazards associated with chemicals and compressed gases.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and safety protocols.
- Experience with IMO, AES, and ISF filings.
- Knowledge of 49 CFR, 15 CFR, DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Able to learn quickly, multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently.
- Must be clean-shaven and able to pass medical and physical testing for a full-face respirator.
- SAP experience preferred (or prior ERP experience).
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience in logistics operations (shipping, receiving, warehousing, inventory management).
Additional Requirements
- Ability to move throughout a large warehouse for 8+ hours.
- Regular lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Climbing ladders as needed.
- Frequent manual data entry requiring fine motor skills.
- Must pass respiratory fit testing and wear required PPE.
- Maintain a clean and secure warehouse environment.
- Ensure no alarms or interlocks are bypassed during operations.
