Job Summary
We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Surgical Technician. This position work under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists are experts in the theory and application of the principles of asepsis and sterile technique to combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation and tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Job Description
- Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
- Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
- He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
- Prepares and anticipates instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for usage during the procedure.
- Sets up the sterile back table and Mayo stand with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the procedure.
- Performs instrument, sharps and sponge counts with the circulator.
- Participates in procedure final verification and during the briefing process.
- Assists with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field.
- Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedure.
- Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
- Prepares and passes off specimen(s) as appropriate
- Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization, when assigned.
- Assist other members of the team with cleaning the operating room to facilitate turnover.
- Participates in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care.
- Assists in the development of a proper learning environment in relation to orientation and education of personnel and students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills Required
- Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, bending, gripping, and dexterity; frequent standing and walking; and seldom heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), overhead lifting, squatting, climbing, crawling, driving, and visual/color vision demands.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Required: High school diploma; prior training through a hospital, surgical technology, or military program meeting role competencies.
- Preferred: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program; minimum one year of relevant experience; membership of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).
- Certifications (Preferred): Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – NBSTSA (within 180 days); Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS INSTR) – AHA.
Additional Requirements
- Hours: Flex shift - will rotate between 7-1730, 9-1930, or 11-2130. (all depends on units need)
- On Call: 2-3 shifts per month, includes one weekend shift per month (24 hour, 0700 Saturday-0700 Sunday OR 0700 Sunday-0700 Monday) and 2 weekdays (Monday-Friday 1900-0730)

Pay Rate
- Up to $47.00 per hour depending on experience
