Job Summary
We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Environmental Worker. You will maintain a clean and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors at Hospital.
Job Description
- Maintain all patient, office, and ancillary areas of the hospital in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Keep all carts/equipment clean, orderly, and safe; carts/equipment must not be left unattended.
- Remove all empty boxes from carts, closets, and floors in all areas.
- Maintain a clean and orderly appearance in all Environmental Services closets.
- Stock paper and soap supplies in all areas of the hospital.
- Clean and disinfect precaution rooms in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
- Pick up trash in assigned areas and place it in central locations for bulk pick-up.
- Respond to Environmental Services texts/calls promptly when assigned
- Turn phones on immediately when clocked in and log into each required app.
- Attend regularly scheduled in-service training programs.
- Report maintenance problems or damages to the Supervisor.
- Maintain a helpful, productive attitude throughout the workday.
- Collect trash and soiled linen in assigned areas.
- Remove needle/glove boxes and soiled equipment from patient rooms to soiled utility rooms.
- Remove bulk trash from areas to compactor.
- Perform all assigned work safely, adhering to departmental safety rules and practices.
- Report unsafe activities, hazards, or safety violations to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Skills Required
- Two years of customer service experience preferred
- Intermittent use of email on a computer for organizational communication
- Daily contact with employees, patients, and visitors.
- Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures
- Ability to read and write at a high school level
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively
- Ability to maintain a high degree of personal hygiene
- Ability to maintain a courteous, service-oriented attitude throughout the workday
- Ability to work in a standing position and carry out assigned duties for the entire shift
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially regarding patients
- Ability to use PDA/Smart Phones for job assignments
- Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting as required
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
Additional Requirements
- Schedule Notes: start at 7am
- Potential exposure to infectious disease unless special precautions are followed
- Safety glasses must be always worn
