Job Summary
The Metrology Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and performance of analytical instrumentation while supporting end-to-end quality control processes. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance, optimizing process performance, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.
Job Description
- Perform maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of gas analyzers, including gas chromatographs (GC), GC-MS, moisture, and oxygen analyzers
- Operate and maintain gas chromatography systems and associated analytical equipment
- Diagnose and resolve instrumentation issues, ensuring minimal downtime
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules and maintain critical spare parts inventory
- Transport analyzers and calibration gas cylinders between facilities as needed
- Conduct Measurement System Analysis, including calibration, Gage R&R (GR&R), and stability studies
- Ensure analyzer data integrity in accordance with Quality Management System (QMS) standards
- Support acceptance testing and commissioning of new analytical equipment
- Execute Incoming, In-Process, and Outgoing Quality Control (IQC, IPQC, OQC) procedures
- Monitor Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC) and other critical parameters
- Enforce quality and safety compliance, including stop-work authority when necessary
- Investigate deviations and support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Manage calibration gas standards, including inventory and certification tracking
- Conduct supplier audits and participate in vendor qualification processes
- Support factory acceptance testing for new instrumentation
- Apply quality engineering tools such as FMEA, SPC, RCA, and PDCA methodologies
- Analyze process data to identify trends and drive improvements
- Support a culture of continuous improvement across operations
- Shift: 7:30am - 16:30pm Phoenix timezone
Skills Required
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience with industrial gas analyzers or semiconductor-grade chemical analysis
- Strong hands-on experience with gas analyzers and troubleshooting
- Experience in quality control within industrial gas, chemical, or semiconductor environments
- Familiarity with statistical process control and quality methodologies
- Background in highly regulated industries (e.g., semiconductor, medical, nuclear) is an asset
- Military technical experience (e.g., engineering laboratory technician) considered
- Gas analyzer maintenance and troubleshooting expertise
- Proficiency with gas chromatography equipment
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality tools (FMEA, MSA, RCA)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective technical communication skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Pay Rate
- $35 - $41 per hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
