Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Back-End Software Engineer to design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance server-side systems supporting advanced AI platform initiatives. This cloud infrastructure–focused role partners closely with our AI Foundations team to architect and implement resilient, cloud-native platforms.
Job Description
- Develop and maintain server-side logic for web applications.
- Define, manage, and optimize central databases to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Implement robust authentication, authorization, and configuration systems.
- Integrate user-facing components developed by front-end engineers with backend services.
- Ensure responsiveness, scalability, and fault tolerance of applications.
- Architect and implement cloud-native platforms across Azure, AWS, and GCP environments.
- Lead Kubernetes-based platform design and operations (expert-level Kubernetes required).
- Build infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes Operators, and Crossplane.
- Implement GitOps-driven DevOps processes and CI/CD best practices.
- Support multi-cloud and cloud-agnostic platform strategies.
- Implement platform security controls and runtime monitoring.
- Configure event detection and threat monitoring using tools such as Falco.
- Ensure alignment with CIS benchmarks and industry security best practices.
- Embed security-by-design principles across infrastructure and application layers.
- Collaborate with front-end developers, Product Managers, customers, and end users to define system objectives and deliver cohesive solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, documentation, and mentorship to engineering teams.
- Lead internal workshops and enable end users to effectively leverage platform capabilities.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, cloud-native advancements, and evolving industry trends.
- Promote reusable, well-documented, and thoroughly tested shared components.
- Design and deploy cloud-agnostic observability stacks using: Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, Tempo / Jaeger, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Alertmanager
- Establish monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting standards.
- Drive performance optimization and system reliability initiatives.
- Participate in rapid prototyping efforts to evaluate emerging technologies.
- Develop high-quality prototypes and production systems that meet defined standards.
- Apply usability principles defined at the product or project level.
Skills Required
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering or related technical roles.
- Expert-level Kubernetes experience in production environments.
- Strong experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Proven experience designing distributed systems and scalable cloud infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Deep understanding of observability and monitoring ecosystems.
- Experience implementing secure DevOps workflows and GitOps practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience building internal developer platforms or AI/ML infrastructure.
- Preferred: Experience with Kubernetes Operators and Crossplane.
- Preferred: Background supporting large-scale AI workloads or foundation model platforms.
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to balance innovation with operational excellence.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, or related field.
Salary
- $125K - $190K per year (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
