Job Summary
We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Power Systems Engineer. This role provides engineering analysis and technical support to ensure the reliable interconnection of new generation resources to the electric grid, in compliance with applicable regulatory standards and internal planning protocols.
Job Description
- Perform electrical engineering studies to assess the feasibility of proposed generator interconnections.
- Analyze transmission network data and system parameters for both generation and transmission assets.
- Conduct power flow studies using software tools such as PSSE to evaluate grid impacts.
- Compare simulation results with actual operational data to validate system performance and modeling accuracy.
- Develop and maintain tools, procedures, and reports to support regulatory and planning guide compliance.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to facilitate the interconnection process.
- Communicate technical requirements and study results clearly to engineers, project developers, and planning partners.
- Contribute to the enhancement of system models through data validation and quality control.
- Support planning studies and the development of solutions for current or future grid reliability concerns.
Skills Required
- Experience in the electric utility or power system planning industry.
- Proficiency in conducting load flow and transfer analysis using PSSE.
- Familiarity with TARA (Transmission Adequacy and Reliability Assessment) or similar tools.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and present complex technical data.
- Experience writing detailed technical reports and communicating findings to a variety of audiences.
- Working knowledge of Python, VBA, or similar programming languages for data analysis and automation.
- Experience creating and running queries in Access, Oracle, or SQL databases.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
