Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Senior Controls Engineerto design, program, and support PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems while providing hands-on support for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system integration across manufacturing and packaging environments. The role requires strong expertise in Rockwell automation platforms, control system design, safety standards compliance, and cross-functional coordination to deliver complex automation projects from concept through validation and startup.

 

Job Description

  • Provide support for installation, commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting for various control and automation projects.
  • Design Control System Architecture (CSA).
  • Design electrical & control panel layout, control schematic drawings and Bill of Material (BOM).
  • Design, review and perform safety validation, safety maps, IQ/OQ, documents for installation of new equipment at site.
  • Review vendor & engineering documents as per project requirement.
  • Provide support for PLC and HMI programming.
  • Development and Modification of PLC program.
  • Development of SCADA project as per customer needs.
  • Integration of Equipment system in the Plant.
  • Support Operation team for existing system.
  • Work with Project/Engineering team for new system.
  • Design feasibility study design basis document and detail engineering technical documents Cable schedule, Device List/ Tag List for new equipment / machine.
  • Understand the electrical drawings, P&IDs.
  • Perform Yellow lining, IQOQ, troubleshoot electrical circuits.
  • Understand the existing control system and provide support to reduce the current losses.
  • Design control study / URD (User Required Document) for the PLC & HMI programming.
  • Understand and Integrate Different systems in the plant.
  • Help the team understand the cause of loss based on historical data.
  • Design and review technical documents, such as engineering information, for the fabricator/contractor's activities to be performed in sequence at the site for site clearance and new installation.
  • Deliver complex, large-scale projects on time and within the budget in compliance with NEC, NFPA79, OSHA, S88, and PackML Standards.
  • Perform multi-discipline and vendor co-ordination for new equipment installation.

 

Skills Required

  • PLC & HMI Programming:
    • Rockwell Software - Studio5000 & RSLogix5000, FTView Machine Edition and Site Edition, Connected Component Workbench Wonderware, Archestra
  • Control Hardware:
    • Rockwell PLCs e.g. GuardLogix, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC500, Panel View Plus HMIs, Point I/O, Power Flex 520 Series VFDs, Power Flex 7 Class, Power Flex 4 Class,
  • Communication Networks -Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus etc.
  • Machine level automation experience, Motion - Kinetix programming, experience with CPG, FMCG customer.
  • 5 + Years of Experience.
  • Electrical & Control Drawing Software - AutoCAD
  • Experience with Making (Process) or Packing system.
  • Programming Standards:
    • Ladder, FBD (Functional Block Diagram),
    • PackML (Packing Machine Language),
    • Safety PLC Programming
    • Microsoft Tools: Windows 7, Windows 10, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook; VM Ware
    • Machine safety requirements and implementation (safety relays and circuits), including NFPA79 and CBA 2050.
    • Knowledge of NFPA 70E requirements and experience with associated electrical PPE.
    • Strong work ethics and initiative; can plan and execute work with minimal direction. Works well with peers and 'customers'; collaborative and responsive. Ability to learn faster.
    • Manufacturing, Packing, Making, and Facilities experience, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization.
    • Support execution from concept through validation to startup activities.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Engineering (BE /B. Tech /BS/MS)
