Job Summary
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for supporting maintenance operations to ensure equipment is delivered on time and meets operational requirements. This role focuses on maintaining and servicing equipment, improving efficiency, and reducing downtime within the Maintenance Base (MB). The technician works within established maintenance programs and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance asset performance and productivity.
Job Description
- Perform teardown, cleaning, and basic maintenance of equipment used in oil rig operations, including wash bay duties, power washing, and disassembly.
- Maintain assigned equipment in accordance with maintenance programs and reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, including labor, materials, parts usage, and equipment history in maintenance management systems.
- Use hand tools such as drills and grinders to support repair and maintenance tasks.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting and assist in resolving mechanical issues.
- Support production and maintenance operations to meet operational demands and deadlines.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, improve turnaround time, and enhance productivity.
- Assist with failure investigations and implement corrective actions as assigned.
- Follow standard work procedures and comply with maintenance and operational standards.
- Promote a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and participating in hazard awareness.
- Shift: 1st shift, 7am - 5pm
Skills Required
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience; entry-level candidates with mechanical aptitude are encouraged to apply
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to use hand tools
- Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems is a plus
Education
- Required: High school graduates with mechanical aptitude are acceptable.
Additional requirements
- Experience operating cranes or forklifts is a plus (recertification provided if needed)
- PPE provided: hard hat and standard safety glasses
- Employees must provide steel-toed boots and prescription safety glasses (if applicable)
Pay rate
- $19 - $24 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
