Job Summary

If you're interested in a Laboratory Automation Technician job, then this is the best role for you! This position supports custom automation systems in a high-throughput genotyping laboratory environment. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement of automated equipment. The technician will work collaboratively to ensure reliable machine performance and operational efficiency.

 

Job Description

  • Perform preventive maintenance on custom automation and robotic systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on automated machines.
  • Document maintenance activities using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Create and update maintenance procedures and technical documentation.
  • Conduct testing and modifications to improve performance of custom machines.
  • Support installation and work around automation equipment as needed.
  • Use hand and shop tools to complete maintenance and repair tasks.

 

Skills Required

  • 3–6 years of experience in automation and/or robotics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with automated components and systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Relevant technical training or certification in automation, robotics, electrical, mechanical, or related field preferred.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a drug screening and criminal background checks
  • Work Sunday–Thursday, 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM shift.
  • Experience using SolidWorks CAD software is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders and working around machinery during installation.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 60 lbs. or less.
  • Comfortable working in a high-throughput laboratory environment.

 

Pay Rate/Salary

  • Estimated Salary: $23.73 to $31.73 per hour. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors.
