Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Applications Analyst – Pharmacist partners with the application team while working collaboratively with our customers to bring cutting-edge technology and automated solutions to the department. The Analyst implements and maintains EHR systems and databases to ensure optimum performance and exceptional outcomes for employees and patients. The Analyst manages or performs work associated with the analysis, design, implementation, operation, deployment, and support of the organization’s information technology resources in application specialty.

 

Job Description

Performance Expectation: Technical Build, Design & Strategy

  • Assists with design and performances that are appropriate for users’ needs and consistent with the overall design of the organization’s information systems architecture.
  • Meet with operational partners and team members to collect and analyze information from system users, formulate the scope and objectives of the system procedures, and conduct feasibility studies to design possible system solutions.
  • Recommend changes to optimize operational functions that deliver better customer service experiences and increase organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
  • Completes appropriate localized build for the EHR and pharmacy systems.
  • Performs project management for Pharmacy technology initiatives by developing, managing, and driving accountability to meet established goals and deadlines. Develop, implement, maintain, and communicate effective and reliable downtime processes.
  • Participate in cross functional projects and is able to provide design information crossing applications.
  • Effectively communicates risks and issues, while communicating status updates.

Performance Expectation: Technical Functionality

  • Identifies and recommends the implementation of new functionality that supports the organizational mission.
  • Develop plans, tracks build progress and provide regular project updates to department managers and operational stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates functionality to operational partners as requested. Performs impact assessment and ensures remediation is accomplished. Coordinate cross application testing to ensure up and downstream implications are mitigated.

Performance Expectation: Corporate Compliance and Safety

  • Follows all information Service change management policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including those related
  • to Medicaid, Medicare, and HIPAA. Ensure IS team are in compliance with legal, regulatory, or policy practices as they relate to the Pharmacy profession.
  • Role model daily use of the safe behavior expectations for error prevention (BEEP) as personal work habits.

Performance Expectation: Training and Documentation

  • Prepares and maintains technical documentation to guide system users and assists with ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system. Writes system and configuration specifications that meet user needs upon implementation.
  • Provide regular status reports to customers and internal leaders.
  • Provide backup assistance to other team members and share knowledge/education with fellow team members to foster understanding and growth of others.

Performance Expectation: Miscellaneous

  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or participate in special projects to support the mission of VCUHS and department.
  • Aid other team members.
  • Accept alternate assignments, as required, graciously.
  • Also, the Analyst will interface all areas of Information Technology Services to ensure project success from development to implementation with the ultimate outcome of customer satisfaction.

 

Skills Required

  • Three years to six years hospital pharmacy experience
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of the inpatient environment and clinic-based operations, procedures/functions and the relationships between them and the hospital
  • Understand the integration of applications and their impact on business processes and operations
  • Demonstrate innovative forward thinking, able to meet project deadlines, deliver to commitments, possess high level of energy and professional acumen, and be client service oriented.
  • Knowledge of physician practice/healthcare professional services, billing requirements, hospital administration and/or processes
  • Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other professional staff when discussing drugs and drug related problems
  • Ability to work at a high technical level on all phases of application systems analysis, workflow analysis, build, design, testing, interface knowledge and programming activities

PREFERRED:

  • Previous Epic experience in the training, building, and/or support of the Epic systems electronic health record suite

Education/Training/Certification

  • Required: Epic Willow Ambulatory (WAM) or Willow Inpatient (WIP)
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree
  • Preferred: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited academic program
