Job Summary

The Technical Writer supports the Startup team by developing and managing test packages, ensuring accuracy in technical editing, graphics, document control, and record management. This role requires a strong understanding of testing documentation processes and close coordination with Testing Engineers to maintain the integrity of testing objectives. The position also provides accurate input to the Startup Lead Technical Writer to help prevent delays in testing activities.

 

Job Description

  • Take detailed direction from the Startup Lead Technical Writer for assigned work activities
  • Develop and maintain startup test packages and related documentation
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of functional test instructions
  • Understand the technical processes and objectives of testing documentation
  • Coordinate with Startup Test Engineers to ensure testing intent is not compromised
  • Manage document control and records in accordance with project requirements
  • Provide accurate inputs to support testing schedules and avoid delays
  • Perform additional duties as directed in support of project activities

 

Skills Required

  • 3-7+ years of related experience in startup nuclear power facility operations, DOE construction projects, or similar environments
  • Knowledge of startup testing and commissioning principles and practices
  • Understanding of construction and engineering practices and associated economics
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and design criteria
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Excellent computer proficiency
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience preparing and presenting test procedures
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and technical teams

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check (including employment and education verification)
  • Must be able to obtain site security badge and meet site access requirements
