Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Piping & Structural Designer to support engineering and design activities related to modular and hyperscale data center projects. This role is responsible for developing detailed mechanical, piping, and structural drawings and documentation while ensuring compliance with customer specifications, engineering standards, and industry codes.

 

Job Description

  • Prepare and review detailed mechanical, piping, and structural drawings and bill of materials (BOMs) based on customer requirements
  • Develop bulk Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and detailed BOMs independently
  • Ensure all drawings comply with engineering, QA/QC, and industry standards
  • Create equipment layouts and presentation drawings to demonstrate equipment functionality and system integration
  • Produce a variety of engineering deliverables, including: Piping layouts and general arrangements, Piping isometrics and schedules, Tie-point and interface drawings, Structural general arrangements and connection details, Foundation and support details, Pipe support and equipment mounting details, HVAC ducting layouts, Process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs, Handrails, ladders, walkways, platforms, and stairs in compliance with OSHA standards, Weight and center-of-gravity reports
  • Support troubleshooting and problem resolution through drawing simulations and design modifications
  • Prepare Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) sequence drawings and procedures
  • Develop installation procedures for customer submission
  • Coordinate and supervise outsourced engineering and drafting activities with third-party firms
  • Review vendor drawings and technical documentation for compliance with project specifications and applicable standards
  • Generate reports and model data to support project and client requirements
  • Participate in lessons learned initiatives to improve tools, procedures, and project execution

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical, piping, and structural design within industrial, modular, or hyperscale data center environments
  • Experience in EPC modular drafting and design environments required
  • Strong understanding of CAD and BIM workflows and best practices
  • Ability to create detailed drawings and sketches to communicate design concepts effectively
  • SolidWorks
  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Navisworks Manager / Freedom
  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • PDF editing software (Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, or equivalent)
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or high-density data center projects strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with facility electrical systems and related infrastructure
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering and construction environments

Education

  • Technical certification in drafting, design, or related discipline

 

Pay Rate

  • $30 - $50 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)

 

Additional Requirements

  • Schedule: 1st shift (8 AM – 5 PM)
  • General understanding of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, including: ASME, ASTM, ANSI, OSHA, NFPA, AWS, ASHRAE, AISC, IBC, SMACNA, TEMA, MSS, PFI, NACE, AHRI, AMCA
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with shifting priorities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
