Job Summary

This role manages the day-to-day interaction and coordination of the import/export of seed and non-seed (chemical, specialized, research) items entering/exiting the US. This role is critical to delivering the business by ensuring Import and Export Operations meet compliance and customs requirements accurately and efficiently, supporting customer and production demands. Import of materials directly impacts production sites, while exports support foreign manufacturing sites and sales to end customers.

 

Job Description

  • Perform Import/Export activities with minimal supervision in compliance with government rules, organizational policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Expedite the import/export process by liaising with regional Import/Export coordinators, Warehousing/Distribution, and Plant & Production Planning.
  • Coordinate logistics for import/export shipments (ocean, air, land, rail) with freight forwarders, brokers, Transportation Contract managers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work is completed timely and compliant with internal policies and government regulations.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with US and foreign customer requirements.
  • Audit team members’ files to maintain audit-ready status and participate in internal or external audits (USCBP/EPA).
  • Accurately process all orders for assigned countries and/or product portfolio.
  • Stay current on applicable import/export regulations through formal training and self-guided initiatives.
  • Develop, maintain, and train team members and stakeholders on Standard Operating Procedures associated with assigned portfolio.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, across divisions and internationally to identify and implement best practices and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Act as key contact for foreign partners/customers.
  • Conduct import/export operations process training as required.
  • Handle complex global trade accounts/trade lanes.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to APHIS, Customs and Border Protection, USDA, and other government agencies.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for assigned business units.
  • Understand product portfolio and production processes.
  • Perform other duties and participate in projects as needed.

 

Skills Required

  • 3+ years’ experience in Business, Supply Chain, International Commerce, or related field preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong project and deadline management skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge and experience with data systems (e.g., MS Office Suite, ACE, SAP, GTS, Amber Road, OneSource) preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in Import/Export, Trade & Compliance, Shipping/Logistics.
  • Ability to work outside normal hours when necessary.
  • Training and mentoring skills for team members.
  • Experience with agricultural and/or chemical products preferred.
  • Strong understanding of import/export regulations.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours when necessary.
  • Ability to maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Subject Matter Expert potential for assigned business units.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • BA/BS Degree preferred.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a drug screening and criminal background check
  • Shift Start Time: 08:000 AM
  • Flexible hours with the expectation of 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week (T-W-Th onsite & M-F remote).

 

Pay Rate/Salary

  • Estimated Salary: $32.19 to $40.19 per hour based on qualifications.
