Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Orthopedic Technologist. This position will assist the orthopedic physician/PA with patient care including casting, splinting, care of casts/splints/external fixators, and in also in patient intake, rooming, charting/documentation, etc.

 

Job Description

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violation.
  • Operates according to all policy and procedures, demonstrating competency and knowledge of the clinic environment.
  • Assists physician with procedures; anticipates physician’s needs and procures appropriate supplies prior to start of procedure.
  • Maintains orderly and appropriately stocked treatment area and exam rooms.
  • Assists with putting away supplies and room turnover.
  • Applies orthopedic devices (i.e., casts, splints, braces) to patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric.
  • Accepts responsibilities only within scope of practice.
  • Answers phone messages and return patient calls during same business day.
  • Obtains patient history and prep physician as requested.
  • Performs removal of sutures or staples; changes dressings; schedules tests.
  • Logs nurse notes and medication refills in patient charts.
  • Assists with appropriately managing patient flow.
  • Collects documentation for surgery, orders, consents, etc.
  • Prepare surgery charts for doctor and charts for clinic, scans patient records.
  • Processes DME applications, if DME Coordinator is not available.
  • Keeps current with new techniques and equipment through participation in continuing education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Skills Required

  • Preferred: Orthopedic experience 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to operate general office equipment (i.e., computer, printer, scanner, telephone, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Required: High school diploma, GED or higher-level degree if hired after March 1, 2025
  • Certification required: Orthopedic Tech Certification; American Heart Association BLS
