The Active Directory Migration Specialist is a key technical role responsible for consolidating multiple Active Directory forests into a single forest architecture. The candidate will possess a deep and hands-on expertise in AD migrations, with a proven track record of successful project execution. This position requires a strong understanding of Active Directory architecture, Group Policies, Organizational Unit (OU) structures, and domain trust relationships.
Primary Responsibilities:
Forest and Domain Migrations:
Lead the consolidation and migration of multiple Active Directory forests and domains into a single forest domain architecture.
o Execute the migration of users, groups, computers, and other AD objects between forests using industry-standard tools and practices.
o Establish and maintain trust relationships between domains and forests to ensure seamless migration.
o 1. Active Directory Administration: Administer and maintain Active Directory infrastructure including domain controllers, group policies, OUs, and AD integrated applications.
o Ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of the domain environments by implementing security best practices.
o 2. Project Management: Develop detailed project plans outlining stages of migration, resources required, and timelines.
o Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful migration with minimal impact on business operations.
o Communicate project status to stakeholders and senior management.
3. Technical Documentation:
Create and maintain technical documentation related to project design, implementation, and training.
o Develop and provide training to staff to ensure a smooth transition to the new environment.
o 4. Travel: Travel to various company locations, as required, to support project implementation. Travel is estimated at 25% of the time.
o 5. Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in Active Directory migrations, including forest and domain consolidations.
• Proven experience with AD migration tools such as ADMT (Active Directory Migration Tool) or Quest Migration Manager.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, and other core network services.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or equivalent certifications are desirable.
