Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Logistics Analyst – Rail to support daily domestic and cross-border rail logistics operations, including shipment tracking, railcar status, orders, documentation, border crossings, and shipment milestones. The role will also manage railyard capacity, railcar storage and maintenance activities, coordinate with rail carriers and other stakeholders, process and reconcile invoices, resolve billing discrepancies, and support reporting, data analysis, and operational initiatives.

 

Job Description

  • Support daily rail logistics operations by monitoring domestic and cross-border shipments, including railcar status, orders, documentation, track and trace, border crossing status, and shipment milestones
  • Monitor and ensure proper use of railyard capacity utilization, managing inbound and outbound flows
  • Manage railcar storage, asset maintenance, cleaning, and loading plans with related functions
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with freight forwarders, warehouses, internal stakeholders, and rail carriers through daily operational calls and ongoing coordination to communicate priorities, resolve issues, and ensure timely execution of rail shipments
  • Process and validate rail logistics invoices and payables, reviewing charges against applicable rail rates and supporting documentation to identify discrepancies before payment
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, working with rail carriers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to obtain supporting documentation, correct billing issues, and ensure invoices are processed accurately and timely
  • Assist with monthly and period-end activities, including invoice reconciliation, outstanding payable follow-up, shipment and invoice reporting, and identification of unresolved items requiring action
  • Support reporting and data analysis related to rail shipment activity, carrier performance, invoices, payables, and operational exceptions to provide visibility to the rail logistics team and management
  • Support ad hoc projects and initiatives as business needs evolve

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum 3 years of supply chain experience in rail logistics
  • Experience working with ERP (SAP ECC Sales & Distribution) for order fulfillment or logistics execution
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint & Power BI.
  • Strong analytical & deductive reasoning skills
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills in verbal and written communications
  • Demonstrated process improvement mindset with the capability to drive enhancements throughout the function
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time in a dynamic work environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen & criminal background check
  • Work Schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH, 8–5

 

Pay Rate/Salary

  • $30.00-35.00/hr. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors
