Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Civil Associate Engineering Technician to support engineering teams by performing technical design and documentation tasks under general supervision. This role involves using tools such as CAD and Civil 3D to develop project deliverables, conduct basic computations, and ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards. The position also includes coordinating with project teams and gradually providing guidance to junior technicians while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Description

  • Supports engineering teams under general supervision
  • Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)
  • Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
  • Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians
  • Stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and policies and procedures
  • Apply knowledge of the Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives
  • Use and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures
  • Create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs
  • Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
  • Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences
  • Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers
  • Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes

 

Skills Required

  • Typically a minimum of 2 years related work experience.
  • Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation
  • Development of plan and profile deliverables using Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Basic Civil 3D experience with knowledge of alignments, plan/profile, and sections.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Diploma or Certificate required. 
  • Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
